Included in the weekend’s program are the popular teachings of Dr Ivan Zwart, Founder of Happy Ground Wellbeing. Ivan has created a specialised program which gives participants knowledge and tools to focus on personal happiness, develop goals for the future, and address busyness and stress. Using yoga, gratitude walking, meditation and tools from psychology and personal development, you get a complete package of practical techniques to improve your energy levels, unwind and regain clarity and control.

We stay at Glen Derwent, a beautiful peaceful homestead, 35 mins from Hobart. There are 2 cottages and 5 light filled and comfortable guest rooms (with cosy linen), warm and welcoming accommodation, and a large wood heater for winter. The homestead is fully self-sufficient, and camping is also available in the beautiful grounds.
Down time can be spent: meditating/contemplating under a tree near the river; walking at Mount Field National Park; relaxing in a hammock; reading on the sunbed; or enjoying breakfast with others, as you take in the stunning views – or simply doing nothing (imagine!).

Happy Ground Wellbeing retreats are suitable for people of all ages. The yoga, gratitude walking and meditation sessions are suitable for beginners or people familiar with these practices.
Each retreat will give you tips and tools to enable you to:
- Better understand happiness and why is it essential to health and wellbeing
- Learn a range of meditation approaches and discover what works best for you
- Feel more energy and vitality
- Create a vision of what you’d love from your life and a sustainable plan to implement and achieve it
- Discover practical methods for reducing busyness, minimising stress and increasing happiness.
You will also receive Happy Ground meditation recordings as part of the retreat.
Because of Covid-19 we didn’t attempt to run this retreat for a couple of years, however, in late 2021 we had our first retreat at Glen Derwent. The participant in this one-on-one retreat, Miss Longe, had the following to say:
